fertility treatment

So I had my first official treatment appointment at HART fertlity today. Had to get blood work done and will have to every visit along with the majority ending in a ultrasound. As you can tell from the picture - they did not get me on the first prick and dig.

Today appointment was to hear back from our results and as well see where we were at in our cycle and discuss how agressively we would like to move forward.

1. Test Results

Matt's tests results came back with flying colours which was a good health check for him as it see your sugars, insulin, pretty much everything. So we were very excited to hear that there were no issues there.

My results a few things lit up from my tests that could possibly be preventing or giving us challenges in starting a family. The doctor said that my sugar levels were high and that my insulin levels were low. This can have an impact on allowing the body to ovulate naturally. Also, deals with gaining weight or not being able to lose. In other words, my body does not break down sugars as it should. Dr. Cepeda (fertility specialist) informed me that I had PCOS - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

This was upsetting to hear as I really wanted it to be a good report and that limited things would have to happen in order for us to get pregnant but at the same time we had been trying for a while and to have an answer as to why it was not working was also a feeling of relief.

2. Where are we?

From that days blood work the doctor was able to determine where I was in my cycle and suggested that we wait for the next month before we try anything with treatment as I was already past that time.

3. Treatment step

Matt and I agreed we would try to keep this as natural of a treatment process as we could and were not looking to jumping to IVF right away. First off, the cost and also wanted to try the other steps first that were less invasive. So look forward to next month meeting and discussing step 1.
