Well because I am not having much luck in this whole baby making business the doc has decided it is time to do a little bit more investigation prior to moving on to IUI to ensure that my tubes are clear. Otherwise, there is not point doing IUI and we would move right on to IVF.

I was very nervous when the day came when I had to meet my doctor at McMaster Hospital for this minor procedure. To me this was not minor. During the HSG test they place a speculum in your vagina (similar to PAPP test) and then insert a catheter into your cervixand then into your uterus. OUCH! This just sounded so painful. They would then inject a die as they have a big x-ray machine hovering above you watching to ensure the dye comes our the other ends of your fallopian tubes.

When I got to my appointment Matt met me there to offer support. I was wo thankful he was there but due to the x-RAy machine being on he ended up having to be in an observation room while I had the procedure. Because McMaster is a teaching hospital I ended up having a student insert the speculum and catheter. Not as bad as I though just a slight pinch. BUT then they realized I was not in the right spot for the x-Ray. So they made me move with all of this stuff hanging from me. Let me say I was not the slightest bit happy about that. Finally, in position they began to inject the dye. That was when the pain started to creep into my body. Tons of pressure felt like it was being applied to my groin like SEVERE period cramps. And that is why they tell you to take a tylenol before hand. Myself knowing this was probably going to be uncomfortable took two.

Right away the doctor gave me the results which showed that for sure one side was open and they believed the other was as well but could not see it well on the x-Ray. So IUI here we come!
