Well it has come to the end of August and the doctor is back in town and we are about to start our first cycle leading up to an iui. I am very nervous but yet excited. I am so ready to move forward with our treatment as what we have been doing is not working. The beginning of this cycle is exactly the same as the past cycles with clomid (100mg) and then constant bloodwork and ultrasounds to watch the development of the follicles.

Leading up to my IUI day we had started off with THREE follciles. I was so excited. Was this going to be it! When the day came for our IUI procedure we showed up at 9:00 to drop off the sample to be cleaned and counted and headed out for breakfast. They informed me that from the three follicles only one was ready to go. The plan was to do the IUI procedure on the Tuesday but it was the first day of school. I can not miss the first day of school as a teacher. So the doctor said we could do the day before but I had to take a shot to speed up the development of the follicle the day before the Ovidrel shot. So here was hoping that the follicle that I did have was a good enough size.

10:00 finally came and I nervously laid on the clinic bed with my feet in the styrops. Matt by my side holding my hand the whole way through. I can not thank God enough for placing this man in my life. Each appointment he made a point of coming with and especially this day being possibly the day that we would begin making a family.

Everything was similar to the HSG test that I had previously but this time no advil. So instead of the dye the doctor injected the sperm sample into my uterus allowing for the sperm to get to the ovaries much easier than the natural way. And that is when I doubled over. My eyes began to water and I held it in as much as possible. Once again this pressure came over me and I felt like I was going through contractions every minute as I squeezed Matt's hand. Fortunately as I lay there for half and hour after the procedure that only took 5 minutes the contractions subsided.

The rest of the day I was instructed to keep my feet up and take it easy. And the wait begins!
